German Jazz Meeting 2010

The third German Jazz Meeting will take place from 23rd to 24th April 2010 during the music fair jazzahead! at the Congress Centrum Bremen. The showcase festival presents current German projects chosen by a jury consisting of experts, club promoters, radio and print journalists as well as representatives of the Goethe-Institut. Hence, this years German Jazz Meeting demonstrates - again - a vivid cross-section of contemporary German improvised music and jazz.

Participating musicians and projects in 2010 are: Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Arne Jansen Trio, Das Kapital, Hans Lüdemann, Henning Sieverts Symmetry, Julia Hülsmann Trio, Max.bab, Michael Wollny/Tamar Halperin, Nils Wogram Nostalgia Trio, Pablo Held Trio, Silke Eberhard Potsa Lotsa; as well as the Soko Steidle.

The German Jazz Meeting aims at making German bands better known to an international audience. For that means, important festival promoters, journalists and agents from all over the world will be invited to hear projects from the current German scene in a live setting. With the event, the German Jazz Meeting association hopes to boost the international attention for German jazz abroad. [read more...]

Based on an initiative of Bundeskonferenz Jazz, a loose assembly of major German jazz organisations, German Jazz Meeting Association was founded in summer 2005 at Darmstadt’s Jazzinstitut. Similar to its models in other European countries, the Dutch Jazz Meeting in the Netherlands i.e. or the Finnish Jazz Weekend, German Jazz Meeting is a bi-annual showcase festival presenting the richness and variety of the contemporary German jazz and improvisation scene to an international audience.
